Sound familiar?

You're highly skilled and experienced. People come to you for advice, and your work is good...

But every weekend, you end up with the Sunday blues: that inevitable dread of going to work on Monday.

It's not so much the work. It's the corporate BS: the 11pm Slack pings, the meeting about the meeting, the idea you nailed in twenty minutes that the boss wants to "circle back to," and you know they're gonna destroy it.

You get home at the end of a long day, microwave a boxed meal and zone out in front of Netflix, because there's nothing left in the tank for anything else.

You know there's more to life.
You just don't have the energy for it.

Maybe you've thought about going out on your own for years but you're scared. Maybe you do some work on the side and wonder if you could really replace your salary.

Maybe you even went freelance before and had to slink back to a fancy job for the benefits. Because you charged too little, or the project doubled when the fee didn't, or you chased an invoice for months and barely made rent because you took on a client you knew would be trouble, but couldn't afford to say no. Or maybe the thought of "marketing yourself" made you feel so icky that no one ever knew you were open for business.

Here's the good news.

None of that means you're doomed to fail. It just means you never learned the business side of freelance. You learned how to be good at your craft, write a resume, and find great-on-paper JOBS. No one (not your college, your bosses, or your neighbor in the cubicle farm) ever taught you what you need to succeed.

Because you can be the best at what you do and still not know how to market it, sell it or manage it. That's the business side of freelance, and it's very learnable.

No MBA required

You don't need a business degree to succeed in business.

I have an MBA, so let me save you two years and a mountain of debt: most of it doesn't apply to you. You don't need to calculate EBITDA, use data science to drive decisions, or understand economic policy. Snore...

You just need a playbook:

  • Know what you sell and who needs it.
  • Know what it's worth.
  • Know how to talk about it without cringing.
  • Have a steady way for clients to find you.
  • Have contracts, invoices, and a simple system, so one bad month doesn't sink you.

The info is out there, scattered across blogs, courses, podcasts, and that stack of business books on your nightstand. The Freelance Pro puts it in order, cuts the fluff, and turns it into steps you can take this week.

Belema Ronabere, St. Vincent

Kate Bagoy

Meet Kate

Hi, I'm Kate, and I'm a quitter.

I started my career at a global sportswear giant, doing creative work with people I loved. It was amazing. Then, slowly, it wasn't. Sixty-to-eighty-hour weeks. Microwave dinners. Drinking or crying (or both!) myself to sleep.

In 2008 I quit for grad school, with no savings and a lot of student debt. Around then I took on my first freelance projects. When I added up the hours and expenses on one, I'd made about fifty cents an hour.

So I did what a lot of us do: I took a full-time job I hated. Then I tried freelancing again, and failed again. Rinse, repeat, for years. At one point I was so burned out and broke I short-sold my house and moved into a friend's basement. (Read my whole messy story here →)

When I jumped back into freelancing in 2012, things finally changed. Not because I had MORE information, but because I focused on taking ACTION instead of perfecting my portfolio.

Since then, I've freelanced from my living room and from 22 countries. I've contracted with giants like Harvard and Etsy and built websites for one-person brands. I make as much as I did as an employee, working about 20 hours a week.

Nothing here is proprietary BS or earth-shaking information. It's an action plan built on solid business strategy: the best of a stupid amount of education, coaching and training I've paid for, broken into small, manageable steps.

I've coached more than 1,000 students through this program live, and mentored over 100 designers on ADPList and at CareerFoundry. I quit my coaching practice to return to full-time freelancing, and rather than shut the course down, I'm offering it for free.

I hope it works for you too.

Who it's for

Is this right for you?

This is for you if…

  • You're a designer, developer, writer, marketer, or other skilled pro with real-world experience.
  • You're still employed and planning your exit, or already freelancing and want to do it right.
  • You're tired of undercharging, difficult clients, and waiting for the phone to ring.
  • You want a real business with steady clients, not a side hustle that runs on luck.
  • You're self-directed and can commit a couple of focused hours a week.

This probably isn't for you if…

  • You want to get rich quick. There's no such thing (unless you're a billionaire heir).
  • You want to learn a specific tool like Figma or SEO. You'll get strategy and high-level tactics, then pick up the skills you need as you go.
  • You want someone to do it for you. I'll show you what to do when, but you have to do it.
  • You'd rather figure things out the hard way than read, learn, and grow.

Pricing

Get started for free. Yes, really.

I've sold this program with live coaching and community mentorship for as much as $2,499. People paid it, and it was worth it, but now it's free.

Why, you ask?

Well, after developing some health issues I simply don't have the bandwidth or energy to manage coaching calls and a community. And since I'm being honest, as an introvert I'm happy to go weeks without talking to people, and I'd rather build stuff from my dark office in my sweatpants than manage scheduling, moderate convos or be camera-ready. It's weird, but true.

Anywho... the training itself always did the heavy lifting, and I wasn't about to let years of work collect dust on a hard drive when it might help other people live whatever weird life they want.

So you get the whole program for free. But you gotta bring the follow-through. Deal?

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

I'm still employed. Is it too early?

It's the perfect time. A paycheck means you get to make decisions from a calm place instead of a panicked one. (Take it from someone who quit without a plan.) Module 2 walks you through bridging from salary to freelance without draining your savings.

What's the catch?

There isn't one. The coaching and community are gone, so I took the price away too. There's an optional Starter Kit coming later. You never have to buy it.

How much time does it take?

Most lessons take 15 to 30 minutes, plus a bit of time to do the action step. Most students finish in about two months. Go faster if you want. Your access doesn't expire.

I don't have a portfolio or much freelance experience.

That's fine, as long as you're good at something people pay for. The course is built for people who are strong at their craft and new to the business side.

I'm a developer or strategist, not a "creative." Does this still apply?

Yep. If you sell your expertise as a service, it applies. Past students include UX and product designers, developers, consultants, brand strategists, writers, PR folks, and a few life coaches.

I hate social media. Is that a problem?

Nope. Module 6 covers several ways to find clients, including building a business without social media at all. For most freelancers, direct outreach and a simple email list do the job.

Is there coaching or a community?

No. This is self-guided video and written training. If you know you need accountability, grab a friend or a group before you start.

What if I'm not good with tech?

You'll be fine. The website and email modules might take you a little longer, but all you need is a computer and an internet connection.

I took Six Figure Freelancers years ago. Is this different?

Same bones, fully rebuilt: new platform, updated lessons, new material on AI tools, contracts, client communication and CRM setup, and a new name. Past members were sent an invite to the new site. If yours didn't arrive, email hello@thefreelancepro.co and I'll get you in.

What sort of transformation can I expect?

Right now

  • Dreaming about freelancing, frozen by what-ifs
  • Freelancing for scraps because you don't know how to present your services
  • Crossing your fingers that referrals keep coming, because there's no plan B
  • Saying yes to projects you don't want because the mortgage company doesn't care about your vibes

After the course

  • A clear niche, prices you can say out loud, and a website that sells for you
  • A way to find clients that doesn't involve posting and praying or cold-calling strangers
  • Proposals you can prep in a couple hours and contracts that cover your a**
  • The freedom to say no to bad clients, because you know better work is lined up for you

Your craft is not the problem.

You're already good at WHAT you do. You can learn HOW to sell it as a service. And you can build your business on your own terms, at your own pace, from anywhere you want. With or without pants.
